A harsh new law that took effect Friday forbids any content “which damages China’s unity and sovereignty; harms ethnic solidarity; promotes superstition; portrays violence, pornography, gambling or terrorism; violates privacy; damages China’s culture or traditions.” More damaging still is a requirement that firms distributing online video or audio be state-owned. If enforced to the letter, the law could kill the most vibrant media in China today.

Super Tuesday is upon us, and it is fairly certain that John McCain is going to get the nomination today. And McCain can thank Mike Huckabee for running interference for Mitt Romney. It is totally obvious to Mike Huckabee that he cannot win the race for the GOP nomination, yet he has stayed in the race. To me, it seems like he is just staying in to thwart Mitt Romney’s chances. And what’s worse, the “Evangelical Right” continues to support Huckabee because he is a “preacher”, and and sending McCain straight to the front.
I’m not a Mitt fan, I’m just anti-McCain. I can’t stand to see John McCain vaulted to the front. The man has made a name for himself by co-sponsoring bills with the most liberal of Democrats, and has repeatedly tried to shove liberal, un-American policies down our throats. He has completely FLIP-FLOPPED on immigration, which is why he is down by seven points in California, the land of illegal immigration.
And mark my words: If John McCain is nominated, the GOP conservative base is not going to be energized. So many of use ex-Republicans left the party because of the Neo-Con movement, and the liberal Republicanism that has emerged from the party leadership. We will not come out to vote for a guy that seems to like Democrats more than Republicans, and seems to want to push a liberal agenda, while claiming to be a conservative when politically expedient for him.
The GOP’s only chance to win the Presidency with McCain as thier nominee is if he goes head-to-head with Clinton. The “backlash vote” against Clinton will be huge. But if Obama gets the Dem’s nomination, you might as well “turn out the lights, the party’s over”.

Lost started the new season with a bang. It was great watching the review in hour one. Reminded me of some stuff I had forgotten. The premier was a hit. Typical Lost - left me with just enough answers to get me more confused. How is this not the best show on TV?

Marcelo Misailidis, a choreographer for Vila Isabel, said the demands to be physically fit for Carnival are growing. As samba schools get bigger, to ensure that the several hundred people in the group finish the parade in time, the samba rhythms have become faster, he said. The competition in the Sambadrome features 12 schools, each with 80 minutes to parade its way down samba “avenue.” Schools are penalized if they exceed that time. Each parader, known as a componente, is on the avenue for up to an hour.

Wow, John McCain is
taking a pounding from conservatives in talk radio and the media. But this was long due in coming. McCain has made a name for himself mostly out of actions that are “liberal” in nature, such as aligning with Kennedy and Feingold.
McCain had better hope that Huckabee stays in for a few more weeks, because once conservatives have one clear choice, McCain is toast.

Last year the food microbiologist’s undergraduate students examined the effects of double dipping using volunteers, wheat crackers and several sample dips. They found that three to six double dips transferred about 10,000 bacteria from an eater’s mouth to the remaining dip sample.
